A man who was reportedly dead came back to life after Christian missionaries prayed over him in a village in southeast Asia.
According to ChristianToday.com, a group of local missionaries who had been converted to Christ by Southern Baptist missionaries decided to go to a village “that was totally unreached with the gospel until they got there” in order to share the gospel.
David Platt, the president of the International Mission Board (IMB), shared what happened next during a recent meeting of the IMB in Nashville.
The villagers initially responded positively to the missionaries’ preaching. They surrendered their pagan idols and amulets to be burned, but then their leader died which they took as a sign that their gods were angry at them for turning away from their old beliefs.
The missionaries prayed over the body of the dead leader, asking "that God would show His mercy to the people in the village, that God would show His glory and His love to that people who were so close.”
Miraculously, the man coughed and began breathing again.
“So they shared the Gospel, and in the days to come, people started coming to faith in Christ and that village starting burning their idols,” said Platt.
Platt added that he did not know whether the man had actually died or not, but he did know that God has conquered death and is working in peoples’ lives.
